Another Architecture & Design Post

Last week, I covered the Parawall by designers Anne Lorenz and Hanna Emile Ernsting  in “Snazz Up Your Summer Sublet with Savvy Style” and the Hockenheim stool, by German designers at NjuStudio in “Sit in Style While Saving a Stack” for 24/Savvy.  It’s exciting to see such inventive designs for small spaces. Of course, the impractical designs are just as fun.

Check out some of my favorite new featured designs from across the globe at Pinterest:

More recent articles include “Savvy Clues for Buying Shoes” based on my experience as a shoe model in NYC, and a little more love for Mario Badescu in Rock This Style‘s “Mario Badescu Might Be the Best Goo.”

Cheers,

Architecture and Design

Growing up with a mother who worked in interior design conditioned me to take interest in the art of home decor. She taught me the principals of Feng Shui before it was popular in western culture, made coffee tables out of old doors, and painted or sculpted every work of art in our home. She has greatly influenced my taste in art and always encouraged a second look from another perspective. When I was on tour in Chicago, she came to visit and show me around the town where she grew up. As we walked around downtown, she pointed out each extraordinary building, naming it’s architect, when it was built, and what kinds of columns held the structures together. So much history.

I’ve always dreamed about designing my own home. As a child, I would spend time in the classroom doodling images of the house I would one day build. Of course, a trampoline in the bedroom is no longer a priority (remember “Big”?), but a treehouse would be lovely! Of course, there’s no true need for any of these things, but I’m a firm believer that, if you’re going to build something, it might as well be beautiful. Why not use your imagination? So many possibilities…

BEAUTIFUL BEDROOMS:

I wasn’t kidding about the treehouse…
